Positions:

Working Student Position
The position is for a working student is at our facility (primarily dressage but some jumping & eventing) located in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Our working student program is outlined as follows:

  • Educational opportunity (i.e., lunging, hacking, warm-up, cool down) through head trainer, Peter Hansen.
  • Exposure to horse care and management through observation and one on one interaction.
  • Possibility of grooming at horse shows.
  • Opportunity to audit on-farm clinics and educational events.
  • Opportunity to improve you and your horse.
  • Average 45-55 hours per week; 6 days a week.
  • Room and field board for you and your horse included.
  • Working Student Job Description:
  • Assist trainer as assigned
    • Grooming and general horse care
      • tack horses
      • wrap legs
      • brushing/grooming
      • clipping
      • pulling manes
    • Turn out and bring in horses
    • Clean tack - your own plus trainers
    • May warm up and cool out horses
    • May hack out horses
    • Possibly assist at horse shows
  • Assist in
    • Stall cleaning
    • Assist in farrier and vet visits
      • hold horses for either
      • jog/lunge horses for evaluations
    • General barn cleaning and upkeep
      • clean cobwebs from ceilings and walls
      • wipe down stall walls
      • wipe down stall bars
      • pick up manure in indoor at the end of the day
      • dust kickboards in the indoor as requested
    • Assist during farm events (as they occur)
    • Evening barn check
      • throw hay
      • check water
      • feed barncheck meals
      • check blanketing/wraps when appropriate
    • Feed/hay barn horses when requested
    • Feed/hay field horses includes checking general health status of horses
    • Muck sheds (as it occurs)
